What does it mean to be  Affirming?

Queer & Trans Affirming Directory

Each business/service/organization listed below has been researched to ensure that they respect, support, and affirm queer, trans and gender diverse communities. For example, this means respecting all gender identities (not just those within the binary), orientations, and ways of being in both policy and practice. What it means to be queer, trans and gender affirming will inevitably shift and evolve, especially over time, place, and context. It is my hope that we will all be committed to continuous learning and reflexive practices that call us in to be better co-conspirators to our communities. Should you encounter any issues with those listed on this page, please do not hesitate to contact me..

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

It is crucial to acknowledge and respect the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). "Calgary" is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. Appreciation and respect to the land that we live and work on is one small step towards ongoing reconciliation and decolonization.
